Having a fan presence and a sense of interaction is an issue the league has been working on with Twitter for months according to TJ Adeshola, Twitter’s head of sports. What the NBA’s come up with is a function called tap to cheer. The NBA will send out custom polls and challenge prompts on its official account, asking fans to vote for their favorite team each game either via poll or by tweeting the team’s official hashtag emoji. So when the Lakers and Clippers clash Thursday night, you can vote to cheer for either Lake Show of ClipperNation, or by going to the NBA app or and tapping on the team’s respective logo. Voting results will go up on the interactive video boards found in each Orlando bubble arena, where players and fans alike will see which team got the most support and the ability to impact visual effects in the venue.
